Note: exact sizes can vary by a centimetre or two between brands — DuraCrafts queen mattresses measure 152 × 203cm. Always check the dimensions on the specific product page. And remember: the bed frame is always bigger than the mattress — typically 5–15cm wider and longer, more for wide bedheads or storage designs.

Room fit

Will it fit your room?

  • Leave at least 60cm of walking space on each side you get in and out of, and at the foot of the bed.
  • A queen bed works comfortably in rooms from about 3 × 3m.
  • A king bed wants a room of roughly 3.2 × 3.6m or larger.
  • Allow swing room for wardrobe doors, bedside drawers and the bedroom door.
  • Gas-lift storage beds (like our Piano hydraulic range) lift the mattress platform upward — no side clearance needed for storage access, brilliant in tighter rooms. Queen beds · King beds

Choosing

Queen or King?

  • Upgrading from a double? A queen is around 14cm wider AND 15cm longer — taller sleepers especially notice the extra length, since a double is only as long as a single.
  • Queen vs King: a king gives each of two sleepers roughly 15cm more width each — the difference between touching elbows and not. If the room takes it, couples rarely regret a king.

Our frames come in solid timber, genuine leather and upholstered fabric — or browse fabric beds. Pair with a mattress from our mattress range (frames and mattresses are sold separately).

Bed frames arrive flat-packed, so access is rarely an issue — mattresses are the bulkier item on stairs. Tight access? Read the Will It Fit? measuring guide.
